Position:

Estimator – Heavy Civil in Glenmont, NY.  The successful candidate will be an important member of the management team reporting directly to the VP of Estimating and working with the entire executive management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating bid specifications and building a project estimate for bid
  • Coordinate with Project Management teams to follow-up on bids and budgets throughout the construction process
  • Prepare cost estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling project work
  • Assist senior team members with larger bid preparation
  • Attend pre-qualification events and site visits as required
  • Determine total costs of materials, equipment, utilities, and labor for projects
  • Participate and contribute in weekly meetings with estimating and operations teams
  • Analyze bid documents to determine the scope of work and prepare the bid in compliance with Owners’ requirements
  • Communicate and maintain relationships with subcontractors
  • Solicit and analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals
  • Formulate contingency plans and effectively manage risks that might impact cost and time estimates
  • Suggest value engineering options and costs
  • Work with project management teams throughout the project lifecycle, including pre-construction functions and change orders

Ideal Candidate:

  • Minimum of 5, but ideally 10+ years of estimating or project management experience in the heavy civil construction industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Related field experience is a plus
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of the greater New York construction market
  • Able to work independently or with a team to complete estimates or proposals efficiently while meeting deadlines
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • A strong work ethic
  • PE licensed in NY is preferable but not required

Compensation/Benefits:

  • Compensation commensurate with experience: $60k – $110k/year
