Position:
Operations Manager – Heavy Highway Construction in Albany, NY.  The successful candidate will be an important member of the construction management team on all projects throughout New York State reporting directly to President.  This position will be a key member of the executive management team along with the VP of Estimating, VP of Project Management, CFO, COO and President.  The successful candidate will contribute new ideas and enthusiasm to help drive operations.

 

Responsibilities Include:
DIRECT REPORTS

  • 9 direct Superintendent reports
  • 12 indirect Foreman reports

 

PRE-CONSTRUCTION:

  • Gain understanding of project budget, schedule, and plans.
  • Coordinate staffing needs for projects
  • Assist Superintendents in developing means and methods for construction using project estimate
  • Using your knowledge and experience of construction look for opportunities to improve the project budget and schedule
  • Generate list of equipment and personnel needs to be reviewed at kickoff meeting
  • Work with Safety Director and Project Manager to develop jobsite hazard analysis

 

CONSTRUCTION:

  • Work with Project Manager and Superintendent to develop work plan and schedule subcontractors.
  • Manage coordination of staffing and equipment needs between jobs
  • Supervise field management.
  • Enforce quality control, safety protocols, and compliance requirements with project staff.
  • Review Daily Activity plans, personnel, and resources with site Foreman.
  • Help communicate with owner to provide updates to schedule and project activities
  • Coordinate and schedule project equipment needs based on project goals and objectives.
  • Identify, acknowledge, and communicate change conditions with PM and owner representatives.
  • Promote general safety culture.

POST CONSTRUCTION:

  • Develop lessons learned with Project Manager and Field Management

 

SHOP/YARD:

  • Oversee all shop activities with the Shop Manager
  • Evaluate new equipment purchases and major repairs to existing equipment.
  • Manage shop staffing needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with hand-off meeting documentation including contract and plan specifications, Owner expectations and subcontractor coordination efforts. Prepares hand-off meeting binders and distributes in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Updates project history tracking and documentation archive, including project information sheets, following each pursuit.
  • Maintain bidding schedule and department calendar.
