The existing Batchellerville Bridge is a 3,078-food long structure carrying Saratoga County Route 98 over the 26-mile long Great Sacandaga Lake at about its mid-point in the Town of Edinburg in Saratoga County.

The primary goal of the project is to provide a bridge that is safe, efficient, balanced and environmentally sound. The primary objective of this estimated $56-million project is to eliminate the structural deficiencies of the existing bridge using a cost effective treatment to restore the general bridge condition rating of 5 or greater for at least 50 years.

The New York State Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Town of Edinburg and Saratoga County, has jointly agreed that a new bridge located adjacent to the existing bridge on the south side is the preferred alternative. The new bridge will have a 42-foot (12.8m) center span navigational vertical clearance and carry two, 11-foot (3.3m) travel lanes; two, 5-foot (1.5m) shoulders; and a 5.6-foot (1.7m) raised sidewalk on the north side of the bridge. Lighting on the bridge and approach roadways will be included in the project. In addition, intersection improvements are proposed for County Route 7, South Shore Road, where it intersects with County Route 98. It is proposed to realign the existing intersection from a “Y” configuration to a “T” intersection to improve safety.
